Changed Name to Mel Tormé
Mel Torme changed his name to "Mel Tormé" early in 1940. He couldn't remember who changed it and how it came to pass.

Born in Chicago on September 25, 1925. Began career of professional singer at four years old. Won the Grammy for best male vocalist in 1982 and 1983. Died in Los Angeles on June 5, 1999.
